First, the logistics:
This retreat is designed to get you into your right-brained, connected, being self so you can receive insights and hear the whispers of your soul’s wisdom. So, as much as possible, we advise that you put on your “away message” and limit the time you spend checking emails and social media. Limiting your phone to only your room is also a great way to stay present and tune into the awakening waiting for you here.
Phones will not be allowed in our ceremony space
If you are taking photos on your phone, please be mindful of who may be in the background and be sure to always ask consent before posting to social media
There is a detailed daily schedule for your reference so you know what to expect when.
Transportation to the beach will be available on most days during your free time (see schedule below). You will need to sign up for the beach the day before during lunchtime so we can coordinate drivers for the following day.
Breakfast and lunch will be promptly at 8:30am and 1pm each day. Dinner is not served prior to ceremony on ceremony days to honor and make space for the medicine we will be receiving. We will provide nourishing, grounding food post-ceremony on those nights and lunch will be a bit larger on those days!
There will be some photos taken throughout the week. Don’t worry, photos will not be used outside of the container of this retreat without your photo consent. If you’d prefer to not be in photos at all, you are welcome to share that also.
For matters specifically related to your room or the retreat center itself, please utilize your WhatsApp group chat which goes directly to Imiloa.
For matters related to anything else, please drop your needs into the ‘thought box’ located in The Heart (where we have our meals), and we will be sure to address each one at our next daily staff meeting and will get back to you promptly.
If you are in need of more personal processing time, you will have the opportunity to book individual integration time with one of our staff. This sign up sheet is at the front desk in The Heart.
The House of Masters will be open every morning for Open Devotion - time for personal meditation and movement practices. Please respect the silence of this space so that others can drop into the morning practice of their choice.
There are a number of things we will take care of with you upon registration, including your payment for the medicine ceremonies and the signing of your release form.
Note: Payment for the medicine ceremonies will be paid directly to our Medicine women upon arrival. Cash is preferred and other platforms will be an option if you didn’t feel comfortable bringing cash or forgot!

Pura Vida!
You’ll notice one of the first phrases when getting to Costa Rica is “pura vida.” These two words pretty much sum up everything that makes this Central American paradise so amazing.
Simply translated, it means “simple life” or “pure life”, but here in Costa Rica, it is more than just a saying—it is a way of life. Costa Ricans (Ticos) use this term to say hello, to say goodbye, to say everything's great, to say everything's cool.
Chances are that you’ll hear “pura vida” from friends and friendly people all over Costa Rica. It’s the way of saying hello, making you feel welcome or saying, “see ya later”.
Don’t be surprised if you see people on the street telling each other “pura vida'' instead of the “buenos días” or good morning you would hear in other Latin American countries. In Costa Rica, people are very friendly, so you’re going to run into this expression A LOT.
Actually, this Latin American version of “c’est la vie” is a big reason why Costa Rica is such a peaceful, laid-back place. “Pura vida” is more than an expression; it’s a choice of how to live life.
Here’s why it’s so important to Costa Ricans:
“Pura vida” is a tiny bit of wisdom that changes the way Costa Ricans look at the world. If you try it out, we’re willing to bet there will be a positive impact on you too! Here a five qualities that are important in Costa Rican culture:
Focus on what’s important in life: Family, friends, gorgeous vistas and tasty food are all worth more than electronic gadgets. Living the good life is more about who you spend it with than how much you have.
Don’t sweat the small stuff: Irritating things happen to everyone sometimes, like a rainstorm when you just washed your car or a mistake at work. However, a Costa Rican would say “pura vida” to all of it. After all, if you’ve got your health, your family and a beautiful country, does it really matter if someone else shows up late?
Don’t forget to take some time to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. Remember to step back from the camera for a moment to savor the experience itself. Take in the jungle sounds, notice how majestic everything is and feel the tropical sand in between your toes.
Always take time to relax: You’re important too. Taking care of your kids and your family is a good thing, but you also deserve to nurture you. Whether it’s a spa visit or a professional massage from time to time. Setting aside time to relax isn’t a luxury — or at least it shouldn’t be.
Don’t be in such a hurry: “Pura vida” also means to slow down a little. It’s not about showing up late to places; it’s about not looking at the clock in the first place.
A Bit About The Retreat Center:
Welcome to our new home away from home!
As we embark on our fourth year offering immersive transformational retreats, we open our arms to Imiloa Institute to hold us.
Imiloa Institute is a global hub for the education and advancement of humanity. They believe that through a posture of learning and spirit of service, they can powerfully catalyze the individual and social transformation which will create stronger communities, transform our planet and build a better world.
We light up in the ways that our visions so beautifully align and powerfully bring us together.
Imiloa is a majestic, 20-acre private mountain-top property located in Costa Rica with 180 degree sunset ocean views overlooking the entire Pacific from Manuel Antonio in the north to the Osa Peninsula and Cano Island in the south.
It is a complete natural paradise with 17 accommodations including 200 year old homes from Bali, jungle bungalows and sacred geodesic domes.
What they have curated is absolutely incredible.
Historically, Costa Rica has been the meeting place of tribes for thousands of years. It is the cradle of the North and South, a meeting point for the Incas and the Aztecs, and it is the perfect location for Imiloa as Costa Rica continues onward in it’s rich history of being a meeting place to exchange ideas, vision and go deep within to discover what we have all been seeking.
Imiloa provides more than just a landing place for Wise Warrior Retreats.
It provides access to ancient lands in which we can sit upon to honor our plant teachers and all who have come before us.
We are so incredibly grateful to the Imiloa family for hosting us and holding us so beautifully.
The Imiloa staff is available to you for all logistical requests and to make your retreat experience at their resort an exceptional one. Please note that if you are needing any support on anything retreat-specific, you will want to connect directly with a WWR staff member.

White Raven - Medicine Keeper
Nature is my teacher. I have been working with Grandmother lineages since 2012. Prior to that I worked with various shamanic teachers and paths beginning in 2004 including Claudia Hromas of Vienna, Austria who comes from Sundance and Lilith lineages of teachings, Dennis & Marcia Miranda, Gregory Harper, and Teresa Iñiguez-Flores of the Mexican Palo tradition. I have been a practicing yogini since 2007. Some of the voices/teachings who have helped me shape and cultivate my meditative and creative practices include Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Dr. David Hawkins Ph.D, Ekhart Tolle, Teachings of Abraham, Richard Rudd, 13 Grandmothers, Michael Meade, Julia Cameron, Nana Veary, Gay and Kathlyn Hendricks, Krishnamurti, AmmaJi, Hale Makua, Tyson Yunkaporta, Kumu Pa’a Lawrence Aki (Ho’o Pono Pono) and Don Miguel Ruiz. This is the foundation.
My Grandmother lineages are Mestizo and Shiphibo. Mestizo through Linda Marie Luna, María Cristina Mendoza coming from Don Solon Tello. Shiphibo through two families, Don Tomas Chávez y Delia Díaz Mori as well as Olga Díaz Mori, and Don Gilberto Mahua and Catalina Mahua.
My grandfather lineages are of Huachuma and are mestizo/Quechua through Julián Sesari and the Quispe family.
My life’s work is to reflect creative empowerment, lead by example, and listen deeply to the Pachamama. Love, Light, Healing and “Highest and Best” is the overarching prayer and intention behind all. My service is born from humbleness and the deepest gratitude for the Healing and Holding that has been given to me.
I am a visual artist by day, employing various mediums to express the beauties and mysteries I am continually in wonder of. My hope is that I do as much honor and justice as possible to the beautiful truths that have been gifted and hopefully inspire others to commit to their sacred and joyful creative purpose.

Retreat Terminology:
Allies + Elementals - Allies and elementals are the individual animals & aspects of nature that bring us spirit medicine, for example, animals (hawks or snakes or beetles) as allies; and nature’s elements (like rocks or the sun) as elementals. Allies and elementals are able to be programmed and worked with and always bring different aspects of spirit to help us. You can cultivate a deep and rewarding relationship with them and they can help you in many ways.
Medicine - Medicine refers to something’s core essence and the way it can help us spiritually. In shamanism, everything has medicine. We also each have our own medicine, and it is one of the intentions of this retreat that you get deeply in touch with your innate medicine.
Container - Anything in life which holds us (the container of our family, our work, our self care, etc). In particular, this retreat is an energetic container that is holding you and is programmed with the intention of accelerating your awakening..
Icaro - A Quechuan word that means ‘magic song’. Icaro is a shamanic song that is like a sung prayer of energy with its own unique vibration, and each icaro has its own medicine. It can move energy, clear us, protect us, and also work with and program other medicines.
Please know that we welcome you with deep regard and we are holding you in strong energetic arms affirming the highest and best intention for each of you this week. May you fulfill on what you came here to create. We are honored, inspired, and humbled by your courage in showing up. You define what it means to be a Wise Warrior. We are looking forward to the unfolding and cannot wait to get to know each of you, and your medicine, in breadth and depth.
In love & admiration,
The Wise Warrior Retreat Team
