First, the logistics:

  • This retreat is designed to get you into your right-brained, connected, being self so you can receive insights and hear the whispers of your soul’s wisdom. So, as much as possible, we advise that you put on your “away message” and limit the time you spend checking emails and social media. Limiting your phone to only your room is also a great way to stay present and tune into the awakening waiting for you here.

    • Phones will not be allowed in our ceremony space

    • If you are taking photos on your phone, please be mindful of who may be in the background and be sure to always ask consent before posting to social media

  • There is a detailed daily schedule for your reference so you know what to expect when.

  • Transportation to the beach will be available on some of the days during your free time (see schedule below). You will need to sign up for the beach that day at breakfast so we can coordinate transportation for that afternoon.

  • Spa services offered through Tierra Encantada are available to you to schedule during your free time. Note: these services are additional add ons and prices can be found on their spa menu.

  • Breakfast and lunch will be promptly at 8:30am and 1pm each day. Dinner is not served prior to ceremony on ceremony days to honor and make space for the medicine we will be receiving. We will provide nourishing, grounding food post-ceremony on those nights and lunch will be a bit more filling on those days!

  • There will be some photos taken throughout the week. Don’t worry, photos will not be used outside of the container of this retreat without your photo consent. If you’d prefer to not be in photos at all, you are welcome to share that also.

  • Guests, Wise Warrior staff and Tierra Encantada staff are all included in the WhatsApp group you were invited to. Please use this thread for any questions pertaining to the retreat, your room or the retreat center itself

  • For matters related to anything else, please drop your needs into the ‘thought box’ located in dining area, and we will be sure to address each one at our next daily staff meeting and will get back to you promptly.

  • If you are in need of more personal processing time, you will have the opportunity to book individual integration time with one of our staff. The sign up sheet for those sessions is in the dining area.

  • There are a number of things we will take care of with you upon registration, including your payment for the medicine ceremonies, signing of your Wise Warrior release form as well as Tierra Encantada’s waiver.

    • Note: Payment for the medicine ceremonies will be paid directly to our Medicine woman upon arrival as well.

Pura Vida!

You’ll notice one of the first phrases when getting to Costa Rica is “pura vida.” These two words pretty much sum up everything that makes this Central American special place so amazing.

Simply translated, it means “simple life” or “pure life”, but here in Costa Rica, it is more than just a saying—it is a way of life. Costa Ricans (Ticos) use this term to say hello, to say goodbye, to say everything's great, to say everything's cool.

Chances are that you’ll hear “pura vida” from friends and friendly people all over Costa Rica. It’s the way of saying hello, making you feel welcome or saying, “see ya later”.

Don’t be surprised if you see people on the street telling each other “pura vida'' instead of the “buenos días” or good morning you would hear in other Latin American countries. In Costa Rica, people are very friendly, so you’re going to run into this expression A LOT.

Actually, this Latin American version of “c’est la vie” is a big reason why Costa Rica is such a peaceful, laid-back place. “Pura vida” is more than an expression; it’s a choice of how to live life.

Here’s why it’s so important to Costa Ricans:

“Pura vida” is a tiny bit of wisdom that changes the way Costa Ricans look at the world.

Here a five qualities that are important in Costa Rican culture, particularly in the blue zone…

  • Focus on what’s important in life: Family, friends, gorgeous vistas and tasty food are all worth more than electronic gadgets. Living the good life is more about who you spend it with than how much you have.

  • Don’t sweat the small stuff: Irritating things happen to everyone sometimes, like a rainstorm when you just washed your car or a mistake at work. However, a Costa Rican person will often say “pura vida” to all of it. After all, if you’ve got your health, your family and a beautiful country. We are inspired by this perspective.

  • Don’t forget to take some time to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. Remember to step back from the camera for a moment to savor the experience itself. Take in the jungle sounds, notice how majestic everything is and feel the tropical sand in between your toes.

  • Always take time to relax: You’re important too. Taking care of your loved ones is very important, AND you also deserve to nurture you. There is a priority in taking care. Setting time aside to just be.

  • Don’t be in such a hurry: “Pura vida” also is an invitation to slow down a little. It’s not about showing up late to places (though that can happen too!) but it’s about not being connected to the clock at all times.

We share these refreshing perspectives & ways of life as we are alway refreshed by spending time here. While we are in this magnificent place together we will have opportunities to adopt these powerful intentions and we can also chose to carry them with us.

A Bit About The Retreat Center:

Welcome to our beautiful home for the week!

As we embark on our sixth year offering immersive transformational retreats, we couldn’t be more pleased to be held by Tierra Encantada.

Tierra Encantada believes in bio-individuality, creating the space to nurture each individual as a whole.

Their location offers a powerful vortex of Pacha Mama energy for healing - bringing together the power of the jungle, wildlife, river, mountains and ocean. Just as they promote a balance and harmony within the body’s energy systems, they prioritize sustainability and eco-friendly practices to offer gratitude, love and balance back to the earth.

What they have curated is absolutely incredible.

Historically, Costa Rica has been the meeting place of tribes for thousands of years. It is the cradle of the North and South, a meeting point for the Incas and the Aztecs, and it is the perfect location for Tierra Encantada as Costa Rica continues onward in it’s rich history of being a meeting place to exchange ideas, vision and go deep within to discover what we have all been seeking.

Tierra Encantada offers more than just a landing place for Wise Warrior Retreats.

It provides access to ancient lands in which we can sit upon to honor our plant teachers and all who have come before us.

We are so incredibly grateful to the Tierra Encantada family for hosting us and holding us so beautifully.

The Tierra Encantada staff is available to you for all logistical requests and to make your retreat experience at their resort an exceptional one. Please note that if you are needing any support on anything retreat-specific, you will want to connect directly with a WWR staff member.

A few terms for you to be familiar with…

Allies + Elementals - Allies and elementals are the individual animals & aspects of nature that bring us spirit medicine, for example, animals (hawks or snakes or beetles) as allies; and nature’s elements (like rocks or the sun) as elementals. Allies and elementals are able to be programmed and worked with and always bring different aspects of spirit to help us. You can cultivate a deep and rewarding relationship with them and they can help you in many ways.

Medicine - Medicine refers to something’s core essence and the way it can help us spiritually. In shamanism, everything has medicine. We also each have our own medicine, and it is one of the intentions of this retreat that you get deeply in touch with your innate medicine.

Container - Anything in life which holds us (the container of our family, our work, our self care, etc). In particular, this retreat is an energetic container that is holding you and is programmed with the intention of accelerating your awakening..

Icaro - A Quechuan word that means ‘magic song’. Icaro is a shamanic song that is like a sung prayer of energy with its own unique vibration, and each icaro has its own medicine. It can move energy, clear us, protect us, and also work with and program other medicines.

Please know that we welcome you with deep regard and we are holding you in strong energetic arms affirming the highest and best intention for each of you this week. May you fulfill on what you came here to create. We are honored, inspired, and humbled by your courage in showing up. You define what it means to be a Wise Warrior. We are looking forward to the unfolding and cannot wait to get to know each of you, and your medicine, in breadth and depth.

In love & admiration,

The Wise Warrior Retreat Team
